TMNT

TMNT. The turtles were part of my childhood. Now here comes a remake movie of them, and yet I couldn't feel happy about it.

Why you ask? 1st, the director(I guess this sums up a lot). 2nd, this trailer. You can notice some bad CGI in it ald, cheesy lines, and don't get me started on their faces! I mean, yes their outfit and weapons are kinda nice, but the faces? Damn someone give me a bucket standby!

The thing about movie remakes, if you're going to make one, please don't destroy it, cause you're destroying our childhood memories as well.

Alice in Wonderland

Watched the movie a few days ago. My 1st thought was the author must be really high while writing the story. Hahaha!

Well, kidding aside. It's truly amazing for the imagination the author has shown in his story. There's absolutely no logic in it, and yet it's so enjoyable and amusing! I didn't really get the grasp of the movie when I was a kid because of the messed-up logic(or maybe my english weren't good that time), now that I watched it again, I enjoyed so much more than when I was a kid. It's such a brilliant animation movie! Shows again creativity has no limits.

Fun fact, the movie was based the novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and it's listed under the genre of literary nonsense. Hahaha!

Love Story

Almost every movie and story has romance in it, no matter it's an action movie, comedy, animation...... People just like to watch a good love story.

Love story movies are quite common now as well, most of them are teenage movies and are quite awful to be honest. I'm not exactly a big fan of romance movies, but exactly because I don't like this genre of movies, when I watch a really well-made romance movie, I'd be much more impressed. Again this just makes me feel, it's not about the topic, it's not about the genre, it's about how you make the plot, how you create the story. It's about the author!

So if a story is bad, that just means the writer has a really poor skill.

Sense of Humour

I love stories that has humour in it. Stories that are all serious and intense are sometimes great, but most of the time are tiring to watch. And even though I like humour, I don't mean overacting crazy comedy actions, I mean something more like a small funny action, or even just a line, that randomly in between stories and tickles your bone. Like how in the movie Avengers Thor quickly says Loki is adopted after Black Widow accused Loki for mass murder.

Humour in between stories are great, they're funny and interesting, and most of the time act as a relaxing substance, let you have some room to breathe in between the intensive scenes. One of my favourite artists stjepan sejic, also known as nebezial in DeviantArt. I especially like how he uses jokes in his artworks and comic. His works reminded my of myself when I was younger as I too always like to put jokes in my comic, some of my jokes are pretty bad though. Hahaha!

Space, Universe, e.g.

Space, probably one of most used materials for virtual worlds.

There's been a lot of games, movies, stories that take place in space. The idea of space's almost been used in every genre and area. It's so common nowadays especially in sci-fi stuffs. Yet, it's still a really popular material for stories. Space games, movies, are still coming out overtime.

I don't mind the space idea, just it's so popular sometimes I feel like some people or company are just abusing the idea. It is pretty impressive though if someone able to put the idea into good use. Creating a story that consist space means you might need to create one or multiple totally different worlds. This requires a lot of brainstorming and creativity. It'd be great if I actually can write some good space story... or just story in general.

Crossover

Always've liked that word. Hahaha!

Crossover stories, meaning putting characters from different fictional world together in a story. Most of them are more like fan arts. I love crossover arts and stories! When you putting different characters from totally different worlds together, it really provokes your imagination! Makes you think about how will the characters react, and even how will their relationship develops! It's taking something that have already existed, and make them into something even more interesting!

Even though there's some crossover things already exist like games and special episodes of tv series or animation, it doesn't always work since most fictional worlds have their own kinda rules that only works for them, but it's always a fun to watch or read~~

A world without sound

Well, not literary without sound. Just a world that no one actually talks.

I like to watch animation shorts that are without dialogues. This kind of animation shorts shows a lot of acting and the animators skills. And then it kinda struck me; A normal guy suddenly got a world that no one speaks.

So no one will speak in this world, then how would any of them communicate with each other? How will the protagonist approach the others to understand this world then. Obviously he can't talk with them because they won't talk back. Can this work? Or just a stupid idea? I have no idea since it's literary a random idea that pop up in my mind. Hahaha!

2D animations

I love animations, that's why I'm studying it right now. Animation is more than just moving pictures, animation brings characters to life, brings beauty onto screen. 2D animation especially amazes me!

2D animation can achieve so much that 3D animation can't. Although I could also say the same the other way around, I still think being able to create a great 2D animation requires more efforts than 3D. It's simply amazing that a world has create through just putting a set of drawn pictures together. Even though they're literary just drawings on papers, yet you really can really feel the emotions, more real than anything. Simply fascinating!

I hope I could make at least 1 masterpiece of 2D animation one day.

Evil evil protagonist

Despicable Me, Megamind...... These are movies that have a evil protagonist instead of a classic good guy. Though both of them did eventually turn good in the end.

Personally I loved both these movies, they have great stories, great character arc, and some hilarious moments in them. And they both have happy endings.

On the other hand, I'm really curious if there's a protagonist that's total evil throughout the whole movie, how would the story turn out? Obviously there wouldn't be a huge character arc if he's evil all the way, then could a good story arc save a movie like this then? I'm just really interested in what kind of outcome would that be, although I have a feeling that most likely will just be a total comedy movie in the end.

Funny Videos and Animation

Spent some meaningless time on youtube and watching these funny videos. While watching them, I imagined, what if these funny moments are used in animation and being expanded. That would make such great material and at the very least, it's going to be funny! Some of the funny videos even reminded me of some classic cartoon moments. Who knows? Maybe there is some animations that's made using funny videos on the internet as reference! Hahahaha!

Ghost

Ghost, spirits. Most movies and tv shows portrait them as evil and horrifying. Some even says that they have supernatural power that could affect the real world and people.

I was never too big of a fan of horror and scary films because they often scare the hell out of me. But I still like story materials that consist of supernatural things because they show human's imagination in them.

No one knows for sure what ghosts are, or even do they really exist, it's human's imagination thinks that they are scary because humans are afraid of things they don't understand. Even if we assume they  do exist, maybe they aren't all evil. This is something I often think to myself. A story that's a good ghost story. Like Casper the friendly ghost, except this time all of the ghosts are actually friendly and nice. It's only the humans misunderstanding them and thought they are evil. Who knows? Maybe someday there might really be a movie like this!

Characters... A lot of characters.....

I've loved fighting games for all my life. Characters with different genre, superpower, fighting style, battling each other.

I feel like the only downside of these games is that they don't really have a consistent storyline, like how most of these kind of games have endings of the winning the championship for every characters.

Despite that, I still love the idea of mixing together all kinds of character those are so different, and write a story about them. Doesn't it make you wanna create a whole bunch of your own characters just by watching these games?

This picture above is a set of drawings that I did base on my high school classmates. I did them as a parting gift after our high school graduation. I tried my best to make each and every character different from each other, although some might have overlap genre a little. Now when I look back at them, I wonder if all of these character were to put together into a story, how will it be? Who will be the main character? Will they be split into different gangs or clans and fight each other? These questions in my head are exactly the reason why I love all these many characters story thingy!

Reboots

Nowadays there's all kind of movie reboots been made. Fairy tale movies are one of them, and some are actually very well done. The movie Maleficent is one great example.
It surprises me how a remake movie which the plot was changed so much from the original source can still be that great! It's not about the story, it about how YOU make the story! Maybe one day I shall make a movie/show remake of my own, and see how well I can do. Probably.

Arm(s)

There's this movie I really liked, Soul Surfer. It's an american film from 2011.
The movie tells a true story of Bethany Hamilton. A female surfer who lost her left arm to a shark attack. It showed how she felt, suffered, and overcomed from her loss.

This movie made me think, what if I too lost my arm in an accident or some sort? What if I lose my right arm that I use to draw? Or worse, what if I lose both my arms?? Not only I couldn't draw anymore, I would even have problems just living out my life! Will I ever come back from that?

I gave it a lot of thought, and then this idea came to my mind. A story that stimulates me became disabled. Yes this kind of story has been done before just like this movie Soul Surfer. But it really makes me wonder how would I approach this kind of storyline. Will I have the character overcome his loss like this movie? Or will I let the character live out a really tragic and miserable life?

Summoners/Master

A lot of tv shows and games consist the concept of summoner or something similar in it. These characters summons unreal creatures or maybe the undead to fight for them.

I like this kind of battle more than something like a simple battle action between 2 kung fu fighters. Mainly because it's more about the battle between the summoners' mind and strategy rather than fighting actions. It creates more depth into the battle but not just with flares and explosions.

1 of my favourite story that have the similar concept to a summoner is the manga Yu-Gi-Oh. It's a story about players fighting each other with monster trading cards game. The monster aren't exactly real though since they're actually just 3D projection of the card's monster to make the battle seems more intense.

These kind of characters and stories inspired me to a story like this but not exactly the same. As most summoner characters on screen summon other things to fight, like dragons from up the sky or skeletons from another dimension. What I have in mind is the summoners actually summon their something that's inside them rather than something outside. Maybe in a world, people with potential could summon their inner-self or their other personality into a physical form and uses them to do things and even fight or battle. This could be really interesting. Think about it, what if a character that's a total kind and gentle guy summoned his inner-self and turns out it's a psycho and a killer maniac? This kind of story could turn out dark or funny either way!!
